Sioufi garden is undoubtedly Beirut's public garden with the biggest unexploited potentials in terms of plant diversity but more importantly with its drastic topography which offers its guests incomparable vistas towards the mountains. The space despite its very poor maintenance (decaying benches- rusty fence- frail playground installations) where spontaneous plants and litter are taking over- still attracts a few locals and regular visitors adding few lively sounds to those of the weak water cascade. The garden overlooks Avenue President Émile Lahoud- the Beirut River- and the summits of Mount Lebanon. The gardens are set to be renovated starting the year 2013. Suggested design by Vladimir Diorovitsh includes new play structures- shaded areas- pond and seating areas.Sioufi park has sculptures of young lebanese artists supported by the association ashkal alwan.
